Atlanta Motor Speedway's first-ever Street Wars will make its highly anticipated debut on the pit-lane drag strip at O'Reilly Auto Parts Friday Night Drags this Friday night, as drivers go to battle in what track officials have already pegged as the most intense, can't-miss event of the season.

With the unprecedented competition summoning many of the fastest drag cars from across the region, Street Wars will offer spectators a rare opportunity to witness high-powered, straight-line racing like they've never experienced before.

The draw? Cold, hard cash.

Street Wars I will feature two high-powered, adrenaline-pumping race divisions that will pay money prizes to both its winners and finalists. A 28-inch and 275 drag radial big-tire division will pay $1,000 guaranteed to Friday night's winner, as well as a racer's pot, while the runner-up will take home $250. Semi-final losers will also each be awarded $50.

A hard-tire division will award $500 to its winner, with the runner-up and semi-final losers earning the same.

For drivers who either choose not to participate in the payout divisions or whose vehicles do not qualify to compete in them, Street Wars I will be the first of a three-night points series that will crown a 2017 Street Wars title in each racing division but is totally separate from the overall 2017 Friday Night Drags season points championship.

The hot-ticket Street Wars II and III events are scheduled for June 23 and Aug. 4 respectively, and the series will continue each season of Friday Night Drags, with Street Wars IV, V and VI in 2018 and so on. Following Friday night's Street Wars I, Friday Night Drags will begin its regular season with the official points opener on June 2.

Prior to Friday's Street Wars I, the weekly Show-N-Shine will take place in the infield garage areas. Participants will have the opportunity to show their vehicles in one of nine categories, with awards handed out to the top three vehicles in each class. Show-N-Shine car owners will then participate in the weekly track cruise at 8 p.m., prior to the beginning of drag racing eliminations.

Participation in O'Reilly Auto Parts Friday Night Drags is open to any car, truck or motorcycle-driver possessing a valid driver's license for just $20. Registration gates open each week at 6 p.m. at the speedway's main infield tunnel, and all racing competitors must sign a safety waiver and wear a DOT-approved helmet.

Show-N-Shine registration is also just $20 apiece per vehicle and is open to anyone interested.

Spectator admission to O'Reilly Auto Parts Friday Night Drags is just $10 with children five and under free. Gates open at 6:30 p.m., and exterior parking is free, while infield parking is $20.
