More than 20 of the best engine-building teams in the Southeast will compete in a Hot Rodders of Tomorrow regional qualifier for the third consecutive year at the 4th Annual Summit Racing Equipment Atlanta Motorama April 22-23 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Tools will be flying on both days of the gigantic motoring festival, as high school teams from Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee and South Carolina tear down and rebuild car engines in a matter of minutes as they compete against the clock for a spot in the dual Hot Rodders of Tomorrow national finals in Las Vegas and Indianapolis this fall.
Among the participating high schools, 2016 Atlanta Motorama first and second runners up Forsyth Central High out of Cumming and East Ridge High out of Chattanooga, Tennessee, will return for a shot at this year's title. Other Georgia teams slated to compete include Americus Sumter High, Cedar Shoals High, Effingham College & Career Academy, Etowah High, Gordon Central High, Maxwell High School of Technology, Sequoyah High, Sims Academy of Innovation and Technology and West Laurens High out of Dublin.
Last year, seven teams recorded times fast enough to qualify for the 2016 national championship, with Peach County High School out of Fort Valley, Georgia posting a weekend-best 18:05.
Competitions will take place throughout both days just outside the Show Car Garage, between the garage and the concession stand.
Along with the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow competitions, many other motoring exhibitions and activities will make up the 4th Annual Summit Racing Equipment Atlanta Motorama, including over 1,000 custom and show cars and vehicles from every decade in the last century, car-crushing exhibitions by BIGFOOT®, auto auctions, the Pull-A-Part swap meet, Panasonic Automotive Autocross and so much more.
Admission to the Summit Racing Equipment Atlanta Motorama is $12 per day. Kids ages 6 through 11 will be admitted for $5, with kids 5 and under admitted for free.
