Atlanta Motor Speedway and the American Red Cross are hosting the second annual “Drive For Life Blood Drive” to collect lifesaving blood donations on Friday, September 11.
The blood drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Atlanta Motor Speedway’s Tara Ballroom, located within the AMS Condo Building at 1500 Tara Place. To ensure all participants have the opportunity to donate upon arrival, donations for the Drive For Life Blood Drive on September 11 will be done by appointment only. The number of appointments is limited and interested donors are encouraged to secure a donation time that works for them as soon as possible.
Next month’s Drive For Life Blood Drive will be the fourth blood donation collection at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 2020, with hundreds of donations with lifesaving potential collected thus far.
“Since the first Drive For Life Blood Drive last September, our Speedway has expanded its partnership with the Red Cross and its mission to help save lives,” said AMS Executive Vice President and General Manager Brandon Hutchison. “As a Henry County resident I’ve felt great pride seeing the enthusiastic support for this cause from the community that surrounds our Speedway and I expect they’ll answer the call once again next month.”
As many as three lives can be saved each time someone donates blood. Red Cross employees have implemented additional precautions to ensure blood drives and donation centers are safe for donors and staff and reduce potential exposure to COVID-19.
Each donor will receive a coupon to Sport Clips, COVID antibody testing, a Drive for Life t-shirt, and a collectable Atlanta Motor Speedway 2020 NASCAR weekend program and diecast car. To prepare to give blood, the Red Cross recommends donors eat iron-rich meals and drink plenty of water. A photo ID will also be needed upon arrival.
